St. Lawrence Orthodox Christian Church Catechumen Shepherd Ministry
The purpose of our Shepherd Ministry in association with the Catechumen Program is not to teach theology independently or provide spiritual direction. Rather, it is to:
- Welcome catechumens into parish life.
- Help them feel connected and supported.
- Encourage participation in services.
- Answer basic questions or direct them to the priests or deacons.
- Model Orthodox Christian living. (Phronema)
- Help them navigate St. Lawrence parish customs and culture.
- Pray for them.
Shepherds volunteer to serve as a guide, companion, and encourager, not as a substitute pastor.
